My Local
Terms & Conditions
Effective August 2026 · Rules for using My Local’s website and member portal.
Agreement
By accessing or using this website or member portal, you agree to these Terms & Conditions (“Terms”). If you do not agree, do not use the portal. We may update these Terms from time to time; the effective date at the top of this page will change when we do. Continued use after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms, subject to your rights under applicable law.
About the Local
These Terms are between you and My Local (the “Local”, “we”, “us”, or “our”), a labour union local operating this website and member portal for its members and the public. The portal is provided as part of the Local’s union services and is powered by UnionForce membership software.
Eligibility & accounts
Public pages (such as home, about, news, events, and executives) may be viewed by anyone. Member-only areas — including polls, My Account, and certain private events — require a valid login issued by the Local. You must be the person associated with your account, keep your credentials confidential, and notify the union office promptly if you suspect unauthorized access. You must not share your login or impersonate another member.
Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- access data, accounts, or areas of the portal you are not authorized to use;
- interfere with voting, posting, messaging, or other portal functions;
- upload malware, attempt to breach security, scrape the site without permission, or overload our systems;
- harass, threaten, or defame officers, staff, stewards, or other members through portal channels; or
- use the portal for purposes unrelated to union membership and authorized union business.
We may suspend or revoke portal access for conduct that violates these Terms, threatens members or staff, or compromises system integrity.
Member content & official communications
News, notices, executive profiles, and similar content are published by authorized union representatives. Informal portal posts, comments, or summaries do not replace official union communications. Bargaining positions, legal advice, and case strategy are communicated through proper union channels and should not be treated as legal advice on this website.
Polls, elections & votes
When you cast a ballot through the portal, you confirm that you are the member associated with the account and that you are eligible under the Local’s constitution, bylaws, and the rules stated for that ballot. The Local may audit votes and take reasonable steps to preserve ballot integrity. Unless a ballot explicitly states otherwise, each eligible member is entitled to one vote. Critical votes may also offer non-portal options (for example, mail or in-person) when required by law, policy, or the Local’s governing documents.
Intellectual property
Content on this website — including text, logos, documents, and design — is owned by the Local or used with permission. You may view and download materials for personal union-related use unless a page states otherwise. You may not republish, sell, or misrepresent Local materials without written permission.
Third-party services
The portal may rely on third-party hosting, email, or software services. Those providers are bound by agreements that require appropriate security and confidentiality. The Local remains responsible for member data it collects, subject to the limitations described in our Privacy Policy.
Availability
We aim to keep the portal available but do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free access. Maintenance, upgrades, outages, or third-party failures may occur. The Local is not liable for delays caused by circumstances outside its reasonable control. Where a deadline is critical, the Local will communicate alternative participation methods when required.
Disclaimer
Information on this website is provided for general union communication and member services. It is not a substitute for individualized legal, financial, or employment advice. For representation on workplace matters, contact your steward or the union office through official channels.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, the Local and its officers, employees, and agents are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from use of this website or portal. Nothing in these Terms limits rights or remedies you may have under applicable labour, employment, or privacy law, or under the Local’s constitution, bylaws, or collective agreements.
Governing documents & law
These Terms operate alongside the Local’s constitution, bylaws, and collective agreements. For membership rights and obligations, those governing documents control in the event of a conflict. These Terms are governed by the laws of Canada and the province or territory in which the Local primarily operates, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Disputes about portal access or use should first be raised with the union office.
Changes
We may revise these Terms to reflect changes in portal features, legal requirements, or union policy. Material changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date.
